The first of day of fittings started on Sunday…all of the countless hours of work and preparation by my team and extended teams have led up to this point.  It’s the time of fruition…we are now onsite.  

Models arrived….   This season’s talent is among the best that we’ve put together in some time.   LFW kicks off with a welcome greeting and address to the models on what’s in store for them during the event.  Many familiar faces, and a number of nice, new faces…see some pics and some clips on our official facebook page in the next day or so.

Racks of clothes, designers, assistants, stylists, choreographers, backstage help…everyone starts to converge…let’s not forget the unsung heroes…all the people getting the venue and site ready for the event…the implementation teams.

So it begins!

The reality, as my assistant Arthi points out, is that there is no “Calm” , it’s only “Storm.”

LFW Summer / Resort is fast approaching.  Only 3 days until fittings start and therefore, only 8 days until the start of the event.  Preparation for this biannual event requires massive planning, coordination, and effort.  LFW has over 20,000 people come to the event over a 5 day period.

This season, we will have over 60 participating designers across categories such as Established, Emerging, and Gen Next.  The talent we have recruited this season is among the best we have had in recent memory.

Our strategic shift in business cycles and our inclusion of Resort as a formal platform have generated tremendous interest.    Our renewed focus and strategy to engage and promote the buyer-designer dialogue has also proved to be fruitful with a significant increase in buyer registrations this season.

Leading up to this season, we have already conducted successful events such as the Fashion Workshop Series – “From Sketchpad to Closet,” of which you can see video clips (coming soon) and pictures on this site as well as on the LFW facebook page.

Please keep checking back to the LFW Blog section of this site to read more blogs from me as well as prominent fashion industry guests such as Fern Mallis, Miss Malini, Nimisha Tiwari, and Rochelle Pinto, to name a few.   A few of these guests will even conduct live blogs during the event.
